Amsterdam already has some of the best wine bars in Europe, and they deserve saying so out loud. Oocker's terrace on a sunny afternoon. The walled-vineyard quiet of Clos in Oost. Vindict, where you can taste something by the glass and walk next door to take the bottle home. Even the ones that don't shout about themselves — ask around about the wine bar inside Fyr, open two days a week, if you really want to impress someone. These places are why this city's wine culture is something to be proud of.

But hospitality has limits worth naming. Somewhere in this city, a five-star hotel is charging more for a glass of ordinary wine than the entire bottle costs at retail — not because the wine deserves it, but because they've calculated that you won't ask. That's not hospitality. That's an assumption about what you'll tolerate.

One Great Glass happens at a public table somewhere in Amsterdam — a bench by the water, a quiet corner of a park, somewhere you've probably walked past a hundred times. The location is announced a couple of days ahead. The wine is a surprise until you're sitting down.
Sometimes it's something humble and brilliant. Sometimes it's a bottle that would cost three figures on a restaurant list. Either way, it's a great glass — chosen because it's worth talking about, with a story behind it.
You don't need to know anything about wine. You don't need to bring anything. Just turn up, take a seat, and we'll pour.
At the end, you pay what it actually costs — no markup, sent over Tikkie on the spot. Then, if you want, we'll add you to the list for future glasses. No pressure either way.
